The Holiday Season is upon us once again!
"It's the most wonderful time of the year" for many of us... but traveling with the little ones can sometimes create unnecessary stress for new families. From the uncertainty of traveling with frozen breastmilk to whether or not you should pack your pump, we've got you covered.
Read on for a few useful tips put together by Emily, our founder and mom of 2. We hope these ideas might help make your journey easier!
Before you travel with a new baby, pack these:
1.) BREAST PUMP
Breast pumps are going through a revolution right now. With more moms than ever choosing breastfeeding, the need for breast pumps that support our modern lifestyle is at more of demand than ever.
For long distance travels, a tether-free, hand-free pump would be ideal! The brand Willow™ has answered this call with their new wearable pump! From their web site: With an all-in-one design, Willow™ works quietly inside your bra, collects your milk in a disposable, spill-proof bag, and tracks your volume through the app. It's in BETA testing right now, and you can join their BETA program to purchase it.
2.) HANDY ODOR-CONTROLLED BAG DISPENSER
This 4 dollar investment has been my life saver since my 1st kid! Having these mini garbage bags on hand at all times has helped me catch vomit in mid-air on airplanes, have a central garbage collection station for each kid on long car rides, and have a perfect place to seal wet-rinsed-out-at-a-tiny-sink puked/peed/pooed-on clothes until reaching the destination. Check this one out on Amazon. The bags are infused with baking soda to help eliminate odors.
Don't catch a chill from having your bare skin in contact with cold air while you're breastfeeding in Winter! We make long sleeve tops designed to keep most of you covered while nursing. Some of our new favorites were designed to be on-trend with a fun assortment of stripes or a grid pattern. Check them out here:
4.) INFLATABLE NURSING PILLOW
Don't under estimate the stress that carrying your baby more than usual has on your body. Most of us put our newborns in the baby carrier more than usual when traveling and on top of breastfeeding, the new mom can suffer from serious neck and shoulder pains by the end of the day. Having a portable nursing pillow with you when you travel can really help. We like this one, made by My Brest Friend. It even has a built-in pocket to stow a water bottle, phone or other stuff you want to have within reach while nursing.
5.) CONVERTIBLE GOWN FOR BABY
Especially for long flights, being able to convert the baby's onesie into a gown will make diaper changing time less of a pain. This one, made by Mud Pie, is so cute.
